MATTER AND SHAPE
CLIENT: WSN Development
LOCATION: Paris
YEAR: 2026
An exploration of the Jardins des Tuileries through form, memory, and material.
Our design for MATTER and SHAPE (2026) unfolds across two pavilions and seeks to nudge the dial both socially and ecologically.
Rooted in the cultural and geographic history of the Jardin des Tuileries, the form of the design references historic gatherings on site, whilst the materiality speaks to the garden’s history as a productive landscape.
A palette of timber, green oil-stained pine, and locally sourced hemp blocks is utilised to create a distinct, sustainable spatial language, whilst a moiré – inspired façade, developed with Studio Hugo Blanzat, translates a historic silk technique into a contemporary surface.
The afterlife of all materials was reimagined either through partnerships with suppliers or innovative modes of reuse explored with the École Spéciale d’Architecture.
