AN EVENING WITH JA PROJECTS AND FRIENDS

CLIENT: Royal Academy of Arts
LOCATION: London
YEAR: 2024

Storytelling And The City: Exploring The Intersection Between Architecture, Objects, People And Place.

Filmed on Thursday 21st March, the evening unshackled the definition of architecture from physical buildings, to also encompass the things we can’t touch – the stories that are so critical to ways in which we collectively gather, cooperate and build.

Each of the evening’s three chapters used objects as a gateway to discuss themes relating to the concept of land which, like the construction of architecture, is both spatial and temporal.

Shaped By Our Perceptions Of Space And Time, ‘Land’ Like The Architecture We Inhabit, Takes On A Pliable And Elastic Definition That Is Personal To Each Of Us. Space Can Be As Small As The Confines Of One’s Room Or As Big As The City Around Us. Time Can Be As Short As The Moment It Takes To Read This Summary Or As Long As The History Of The Royal Academy.

The Event programme outlined below consisted of poems, lectures, conversations, films, readings and performances delivered by an incredibly generous and talented cast inviting the audience to explore their relationship with land and architecture, and their agency in shaping it.

A reader accompanied the event and edited highlights from the evening are captured in the recording.
